No Comment – What Do People Really Wear to Bed? | Syno
Comfort, Confidence, or Just Convenience?
We asked 2,000 people across Sweden and Norway about their sleepwear habits – and the responses were more revealing than expected. From minimalist styles to cozy layers, how we dress for bed reflects much more than just a bedtime routine.
The Winners: Underwear, Shorts… and Nothing at All
The most popular option? Only underwear or shorts, chosen by 20.1% of respondents. Simple, breathable, and easy – it’s a practical favorite.
But coming in second is the birthday suit, with 18.9% of people opting to sleep completely naked. Whether for comfort, freedom, or just avoiding extra laundry, it's clearly a top choice.
Rounding out the top three: only panties at 17.9% – minimalism is definitely trending when the lights go out.
A Closer Look at the Layered Sleepers
Not everyone strips down at bedtime. A significant number of people still prefer a bit more coverage:
- T-shirt + underwear/shorts – 14.7%
- T-shirt + long pants – 14.5%
These combinations suggest a preference for soft, breathable coverage without sacrificing comfort.
The Sleepwear Outliers
Then there are the sleepers whose bedtime choices stood out:
- Only a T-shirt – 3.5%
- Bra and panties – 3.4%
- Bra and long pants – 1.6%
- Only long pants – 0.7%
- Only a bra – 0.5%
While rare, these combinations add color to the full picture and highlight just how unique sleep habits can be.
Demographic Filters That Matter
Sleepwear preferences differ between men and women, and across generations, from Gen Z to Baby Boomers. For example, younger generations lean toward minimalist outfits, while older ones are more likely to favor layered comfort.

Survey Methodology
Syno International conducted the survey through its Answers Omnibus from February 21st to February 24th, and 26th, 2025. The data was collected via online panels with a national representative sample of 2,000 people (aged 18–80) in Sweden and Norway, stratified by gender and age group.
